Not much knitting going on....
08.29.04 (12:29 pm)   [edit]

Thanks to everyone for stopping by!  I will be by your blogs soon!

We build Lynard (our guinea pig) a cage and we are going to get another one in the next day or so.  Their new house is very neat.  I think they are really going to like it!

My first sock!
08.26.04 (8:52 am)   [edit]

Strike up the band!  I FINISHED MY FIRST SOCK!!!  Hooray!!

It is of course not perfect, but I am really happy with it.  I am sure the next ones I make will go a lot smoother.  I think I messed up the stitch count and my ribbing got off near the toe, but no one is going to see it!  I have been wearing it around the apartment - eventually I will have a pair!

Thank you to Judy, everyone on KR and the socknitters list that helped me figure it out!

Weekend of Knitting
08.23.04 (11:19 am)   [edit]

I had a pretty relaxing weekend knitting.  I started on the Peppermint Twist sweater with my Rowan yarn.  The gauge worked out right the first time!  :)  I was very excited.  I have a couple of inches on the sleeve.  Hooray!  It is looking really good!

I have also had a frustrating weekend of making my sock.  I just stressed about it too much and I got frustrated.  But, thanks to Judy and other people at KR, I am working it out.  I am just having faith that it is going to work out.  I am still working on the gusset decreases.

Oh, and everyone from the South go and join the Southern Knitters ring y'all!

My Rowan yarn came in!!  I can now finally start my sweater.  This is the first real sweater that I have done and I am so excited!  I have been waiting on this yarn since early July!  Hooray!!!

Frustrating day of socks!
08.20.04 (3:11 pm)   [edit]
I have been working on my first sock - I will post a pick later and it has been frustrating!!  grrr....

A package on the way for me!
08.19.04 (6:41 pm)   [edit]
I ordered some yarn from handworks gallery for the Peppermint Twist sweater from SNB forever ago and I was getting worried.  I called them today and they said that it was put in the mail today and I should have it by Saturday or Monday!  HOORAY!!  I can't wait to get started on it (not to mention all my other projects.....)

My Kool-Aid Projects!
08.19.04 (6:39 pm)   [edit]

Hooray!  I made 2 little projects today! I made 2 little lipstick bags for myself and my sister.  Mine is the pink one and I made the red one for her.  They turned out really cute!

Here they are unfelted:

Poncho KAL
08.18.04 (9:06 am)   [edit]

I joined the Poncho KAL and I am so excited!  This is going to kick my butt to actually make one.  I am thinking about making this one from FCEK.

I think I am going to stop knitting it before the length they say.  I don't want it to long.  I also thought about making the Very Harlot Poncho, but I don't think I want the eyelets running down the middle of it.  I am not so sure about the turtle neck on this one, but I can always make another!

My adventures with Kool-Aid
08.18.04 (8:07 am)   [edit]

I am having so much fun with this!  I was having a bad day and I needed to do something fun.  So, I went to AC Moore and got some of the Lions Brand Fisherman Wool and met a woman there who teaches people how to crochet and knit during the day - very cool.

I decided to experiment with colors with small skeins before I do a lot of yarn at once.  I want to make an orange and blue scarf for football games.

I first experimented with doing it through the microwave with pink.

I tried a pink and green painted skein - when the colors blended together - it turned a little brown.  Whoops!

I then did a gradiated (i think that is the right word) with Black Cherry Red by dipping the color in and then boiling it.  I think I like the boiling method better - I think the color takes better to the yarn.

The yarn below ended up being blue/green when it was supposed to be orange and blue striped.  I will have to try that method again later.

When I was doing this one, I didn't realize that Kool-Aid Dye would stain my hands.  So, now my hands are a lovely shade of green.  But, it is wearing off!

That is all about my adventures for now.  I am going to dye some more yarn today.

Project Kool-Aid
08.14.04 (1:56 pm)   [edit]

I joined project Kool-Aid today and I am so excited!  It should be a lot of fun!  I have never dyed yarn before and it should be fun to try.  I think I am going to dye it good ole orange and blue for a scarf for football season when it gets cold.  Now, I have to find some good yarn to dye.  Any suggestions?

I wish I could knit that fast!  I'll have to ask DH for why it actually did that!  But, I am sure I will get some engineer answer that has to do with physics - so I may not want to know the answer!

mailed squares today!
08.14.04 (10:21 am)   [edit]

:D  I mailed squares today!  I did Cara's last night while watching the Olympics.  I have the 365 Stitches Per Year book and it is fabulous!  I definately recommend getting the book.  It is worth every penny.

I think I am going to work on my socks this afternoon.  I have been working on squares for Afghans for Us that I haven't had too much time to work on anything for myself.  So, I think it is me, my socks and the Olympics!  I am trying to get in some quality knitting time before school starts up again.  I have to be the projecto coordinator of the CQEP this year, so I am going to be one busy gal!

Got my squares today!

I love cashmere!
08.02.04 (11:03 am)   [edit]
You are Cashmere.
You are Cashmere.
You are sophisticated and luxe. You can often be
found in high-end boutiques and hobnobbing with
the upper crust. You are one of the beautiful
people and you don't let anyone forget it!

What kind of yarn are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

Whoopie for being cashmere! I love love love it even though I can afford none of it! Oh well, one can dream!
